Clicking on the link in the email takes you to a page where you will select the Operating System (OS) for the computer you wish to backup. The ReadySetBackup.com software functions with all major Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows, Macintosh OS X, Linux, or Novell NetWare. Pick the Icon at the top of the page for your Operating System and you will be directed to the specific instructions for your computer. The instructions below are specific to MS Windows; however, since our software is written for consistency and ease of use for all computers, the instructions are virtually identical for all computers and operating systems. If you receive a security warning before the download begins, please click the Save or Run option to continue. Be sure to remember where you have saved the file. Once the download is complete, double click on the file and begin the installation process by clicking on Run.

You will be prompted for the language to use. Currently, our software supports English and Spanish.

Click Next to begin the installation.

To install and use our software, please review and accept the license terms.

Select the install destination (there should seldom be a reason to change the default).

Allow your computer to create a new folder for the installation.

Begin the Installation by clicking Install button.

Installation is complete, click the Finish button.

Is this your first time installing the software? Pick Trail Registration. If you are already a customer and have a User Logon, please select User Logon.

Assuming you are a new user, and have picked "Trial Registration", this is what you will see.

Otherwise, if you are re-installing the software, you would enter your Login Info here.
"Bob" at RSB has decided to install a Trial version of our software.

The software checks the server to see if your account already exists and then takes you directly to setting up your backup routine.
You can change the name of the backup if you wish; however, there really isn't a reason to.
Click Next to pick the files you wish to backup.

For this first installation, picking the Standard backup option we have programmed for you is fine.
The Standard backup option picks standard files and locations to backup. If you have important data to protect outside of these areas you can adjust this at a later time (or any time).
Click Next to continue.

Clicking the Properties button allows you to see the default schedule which is 21:00 hrs (9 pm) each day.

We recommend that you change the "Stop" option to be after 8 hours for your first few backups. This will allow you to watch the progress of the backup.
Click OK to continue.

The Default security is fine for nearly all users. Only change to Custom if you have specific security needs or have been directed to use this by the ReadySetBackUp Team.
Click Next to continue.

That's it! Click Finish.

You are now presented with the main screen for managing your backup to RSB. Let's go ahead and start your backup now by clicking on Start Backup.

Pick "Offsite Backup Server" (the other option is used in the event a large amount of data needs to be stored and shipped to us for a manual load to our servers). This only applies if you have a Server versus a Personal account with more than 10 GB of data.
Click OK to continue.

After clicking OK, the backup begins (note the progress in the Log area at the bottom of the screen):

Once the backup has finished (from a few minutes to several hours depending on the amount of data and speed of your connection), you will see the following Success in the log file:

You may Exit the software (Backup Set: Exit)

Answering "Yes" will save your settings (what is to be backed up and the schedule) to the backup server. You should answer "yes" to this question.
If the amount of data to be backed up is too large to finish in this session or you need to shut down you computer, our software will automatically start up where it stopped at the next scheduled backup time (9p in the above example).
Every time ReadySetBackup.com software runs a backup, you will receive an email listing the status of the backup including the number of files protected.
Congratulations! Your new online backup solution is ready to start protecting your valuable data. Although no further configuration is required, you may wish to run the online backup program (by double-clicking the icon) and making sure your important documents are selected for backup.
You will now see the RSB "Go-Light" in your task bar (Windows) which will flash when the background backup is running. Also, you can access basic commands such as Backup commands by right-clicking on the "Go-Light" icon.
That's it!
